For the past several years, my family has been decorating gingerbread scenes. This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Each year we do a different theme. The first year we did trains, the next year amusement park rides, then we did an old western town, next a miniature golf course theme with workable golf holes and last year we did famous sites from around the world. This year we decided to do some of our favorite Disney movies. The idea sounded really good in our heads. But for some reason, putting the ideas into the actual scenes was lots harder. All of the creations turned out great, but they took longer than we expected and some got frustrated and left their things unfinished.
Every year we have boxes and boxes of Graham Crackers, bags upon bags of candy (thank you Winco) and lots of glue guns. This year Cait and my mom even decided to splurge and got fondant for their creations. After a yummy dinner the fun begins...
Yes, this year we actually all sat in the dining room for our creations, it was close quarters, but fun.
Notice Caitlyn's Sweatshirt-it kinda became her motto for the evening
Now let's see if you can guess the movie...
Let's see how you did-Gru's house from Despicable Me (Courtney), Pete's Dragon (Mom), Shrek's swamp (Ciara), the castle from Disneyland (I think it is Cinderella's castle)(Dad), the UP house (Chels), Bambi(Austin), Aladdin (Jasmin's castle)(Daniel), Pirates of the Caribbean (Annie) and Aladdin entering Jasmin's castle on an elephant in the grand parade(Carter).
The boys finished up their Disney scenes and left the dining room where the rest of us were still working. They were pretty quiet, so I went to check on them and this is what I found. What would we do without technologies?
Our Disney creations (Cait's tower and Repunzel girl are even in the shot as well as Dustin's Other Side of Heaven beach and boardwalk)
Sorry Cait, I just had to put this picture up! Too good to pass up :)
Happy Holidays!
