Redmesa

This past weekend we headed to Redmesa, Colorado for Daniel's Grandpa Taylor's funeral.  We had the pleasure of traveling down with Sam and Anna Oman (Daniel's sister and husband). It was a fun drive down with lots of chatting and jokes. Yes, I busted out the Questions Book. Oh how I love that thing!

We got to Redmesa just in time for Daniel's         cousin Brian's wedding reception.

All of Daniel's immediate family flew in for the funeral so we met up with all of them at the reception. It was good to see everyone. David, Daniel's older brother, was there without his wife, but other than that all the siblings and spouses were there without their kids, except Brayden.  Brayden was great though.

Daniel and David were best of friends as kids.

Here's the group at the reception. Ashley, Sam, Anna, Me, Daniel, Stephen, Alyssa, David, Tiff, Spencer.  Carrie, Norman, Debbie, Camille, Brayden.

After the reception we all stuck around to help clean up and set up for the funeral the next day.

We were super lucky because a friend of Daniel's uncle let us stay at his Bed and Breakfast for free. It was great cuz we all got to stay in a house together.

Well, we stayed in two houses, but the house Daniel and I stayed in had his 3 other siblings and was called "the fun house". Everyone would meet up there to hang out.

The breakfasts were made daily by a Chef from Brazil.  Yummy food!

The weather wasn't the best for the funeral, with a slight blizzard at the cemetery.

Grandpa Taylor was a war veteran, so his casket was wrapped in a flag and he received a gun salute.

Funerals are hard, but knowing Grandpa Taylor isn't sick or in pain anymore and is with his wife Anna Varaia makes it better.

The weekend was a lot of fun hanging out with Daniel's siblings minus their kids. All of the grandkids are darling, but the adults were able to just hang out and not worry about their kids. I was able to get to know Daniel's siblings better than I have before with all the stories and such that were shared. We all headed home Sunday afternoon. It was a great weekend!

Getting closer to July 21st week by week!

  1. It was fun driving down with you and Daniel. I don't think I have been able to really chat with him since before his mission. We had a fun time!
