Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day!
I dressed Variah up on Valentine's Day for emails to family members

She is eating/destroying the heart I cut out

This year I was in charge of Valentine's Day. Daniel and I have decided to take turns with our anniversary and Valentine's Day. We felt like both of those holidays are for us both, so it wouldn't be fair for him to always plan Valentine's Day or vice versa. I'm glad we've established this now, so years down the road I can't be mad at him for not planning anything or him sad because I failed to do anything. For those of you who know Daniel, he is really hard to buy for. In a way, it is a good thing he's hard to buy for because he only asks for things that he needs.  The man is pretty simple and doesn't require a lot of things.  We laugh because I say one of the things he likes to collect is money. We have our own personal money each month that we've set aside in our budget.  I'm really good at spending mine and Daniel's just collects in the account.  So this year I decided to get creative and get him something he'd want and need...BACON! haha. I saw on Our Best Bites how to make a bacon bouquet and thought it was a perfect idea for Daniel.

He went to  Jazz game with my dad Tuesday before Valentine's Day, so I made all of the bacon buds that night and froze them so he wouldn't know what I was up to and I could do it without Variah demanding my time.  It was fun, but man did our house smell like bacon!  Luckily I needed cooked bacon for our dinner on Wednesday so I just told Daniel that is why our house reeked of bacon.  Hehehe.

Thursday after Variah's morning nap I got her dressed and all ready to go to Daniel's office. I then texted him and asked him if he'd want to Skype in 30 min. after I fed her and got her dressed (which I'd already done). I knew that it would take me 30 min to drive to Daniel's work to surprise him.  He agreed and we hopped into the car.  Just as we got off the elevator on his floor of his building, he texted asking if he had time to heat up his lunch.  Seconds later we walked into his office.  He was pretty surprised.  Variah even had on a new outfit that had hearts for polka dots and the shirt said "Daddy's Princess".

It was a fun surprise, another thing that is hard to do with Daniel.  We hung out for a bit, then let him get back to work.

That night for dinner I made a marinated Lemon Broil, my Aunt Martha's potatoes, a salad with Olive Garden like dressing (he's favorite kind of salad I found out on our date) and for dessert vanilla pudding (one of Daniel's most fav thing to eat).

Daniel brought me home beautiful roses and gave me a certificate for 2 massages from a spa in Highland. I can't wait to use them!

I got Daniel the Children's Hymns in Spanish, well Portugese for him to use to sing to Variah with.  Daniel sings songs to Variah when he's putting her to sleep.  And since he only speaks to her in Spanish, he says that he only remembers a few children's hymns.  He's been wanting to get the CDs for awhile, but hasn't made it to the store. Anyways, I called the Deseret Book in Draper and they said they could put the Spanish CDs on hold for me.  I was excited to surprise Daniel with them.  As he was opening them up, he said while laughing, "thanks for the portugese CDs".  WHAT?! I guess the lady who helped me doesn't speak spanish and I certainly don't, so neither one of us knew we had the wrong CDs.  I told Daniel that with my French and his Spanish Variah gets to learn Portugese because it is a combo of the two languages.  Grrrr! So much for that surprise.

After dinner we watched a VHS called Micky Loves Minnie.  It has some old school disney love videos...The Brave Little Tailor, Donald's Double Trouble and Society Dog Show. Who doesn't love Disney movies right?

It was a fun night and we loved surprising Daniel at work!
