Tales from the Taylors: Father's Day

We are so lucky to have such wonderful fathers in our lives. Norman and Glen have been great examples to both Daniel and me. Variah is one lucky girl to have Daniel as a dad. He loves spending time with her and she sure loves him. Here's an example of what a great dad he is to V:

For Daniel's gifts we gave him a "stache" bag to replenish his food stash at work. It was a bag of his favorite chips (Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper), Hi-Chews, swedish fish, Charleston Chews and Ritz crackers. We also gave him a putter cover.

For dinner I made steak and rosemary sweet potato fries

That night we had Debbie, Norman, Camille, Spencer, Tiffany, Brayden and Marika over for the infamous Strawberry Delight. It is a Taylor family favorite when it comes to dessert. I hadn't ever heard of it until I was dating Daniel. In fact I tried to make it while we were dating and found out there is even a favorite Taylor recipe. I now have that recipe and can make it for the family and gets thumbs up. Hooray! Family recipes can be tricky cuz sometimes that family member is the only one who can make it the right way. My mom's meatloaf is an example or her potato salad. I only like my mom's version of those entrees. Although Daniel makes a mean Meatloaf Sloppy Joes!

We had Norman open his gifts from Spencer's family and us after dessert. He got 2 short sleeve white shirts for church, fig newtons and a putty knife.

We celebrated with my family the following Sunday at my folks place. We had dinner and opened gifts. The girls and our spouses had highjacked my dad's old slides a month or so before and had them digitized onto a DVD. We also developed the pictures from the DVD into actual pictures for him to look at in a binder. Some of the pictures are from my parents' wedding, a trip they took to Hawaii, baby pictures of me and other shot of us oldest kids when we were toddlers.
