January was a hair raising and losing month…Daniel grew out a beard over Christmas break and kept it until the second weekend in January. It was the longest he has ever had it. He shaved most of it off but kept a goatee and flavor savor. I chopped my hair the second weekend in January. Chelsea did a good job, as always.
Look at all that hair!
Haha! This picture makes me laugh. Daniel sent it to me while I was getting my hair cut at the salon so I could show Chels and Annie what was left of Daniel's beard.
And that was only some of my hair
Don't mind the foil in my hair…just a finishing touch I got to wear to Costco :)
January 17th Daniel and I were invited through 4Life to attend the Pioneer in Leadership award gala in Provo. We sat down and looked behind us to see Elder Nelson, his wife and Sheri Dew (the recipient of the Pioneer In Leadership Award)! I was shocked because usually those people sit at the front table. It made me feel all important like to be sitting at the front table and in front of some of the general authorities and other "high up people". We also saw Elder Bednar, Elder Oaks and other church auxiliary members.
Jenny Oaks Baker provided the entertainment. Man, she can really play that violin! One of the songs actually brought me to tears. (That's Daniel's boss Jeff and his wife Toni that you can see sitting at our table)
Sheri Dew spoke at the end of the evening. She spoke on the importance of understanding our heritage and how it can change our destiny. She said there are 3 things we need to remember: If and when we have success it isn't about us; We can only reap what we sow; it is all about water. She said we need to do the best we can with the corner of the Lord's vineyard we have been given.
Cheese Ball!
Norman came over after work to cut Daniel's hair so I made him dinner for helping us out. I figure that is the least I can do when someone is willing to come to our house and help us out, right? Get a free meal? So feel free to come help out at our house and I'll pay you with a meal or some goodies :)
Variah enjoyed sitting on Grandpa's lap and eating veggies and dip
I went shopping at Fashion Corner in Draper and bought the boots, coat and scarf. I was pleased with my purchases, the coat was only $18!
Variah is at the stage where she loves dressing herself. These shorts were in a bag of clothes I was giving away and she got them out and put them on all by herself.
Kinda like a toga
Watching it snow outside
I attempted to do some fine motor skills stuff with Variah. She was supposed to put the cheerios on the spaghetti noodles that were stuck in the play-dough. She ripped the noodles out of the play-dough and decided to eat them! Seriously?!
This little girl is so sweet! She will come up behind me and give me a big hug. I LOVE the sweet little hugs from this girl
Just being silly
When I ask Variah to smile I get this look sometimes. Silly Girl!
Helping me out with the laundry
Exploring with play-dough

Her new potty! She has shown some interest so I figured might as well start the process. This is about as far as we have gotten, that and she can sign potty and kinda say potty.
Variah went shopping with dad and look who got a new dress for Easter…Daniel said she was pointing to them when they walked by and he had to stop…I think she is pretty excited for this dress!
All ready for church in her cute outfit from Larlie and Pop
Visiting with Grandma Taylor for Grandpa Taylor's Surprise 60th Birthday party
Larlie, Trey and Carsten playing with toys
Chels getting some help blowing out the candles on her birthday cake
January Birthday dinner for Chels and Trey
Daniel found Variah like this one morning
Again my little cheese ball! Sure love this little girl
Variah LOVES to hide from us or run from us so we have to chase her. She really likes hiding when she hears the garage door open so that she can surprise the person walking through the door. This is a nightly ritual when Daniel comes home from work.
Variah loves helping out lately. She will get the broom and "sweep" for us or she will help me put things in the washer or dryer. She really likes helping Daniel when he shovels the driveway. She gets our dustpan and uses that as her shovel. It is the perfect size for her!
