Museum of Natural Curiosity

Since we have a membership to Thanksgiving Point, we were allowed to go to a "sneak peek" of the Museum of Natural Curiosity.  It is AMAZING!!! We could have spent all day there just exploring and having fun.  We got tickets for the 10:30 time and stayed until 12:00. That time passed by very quickly and I was actually shocked to look down at my watch and see it was noon.  And the best part is it is only 15 minutes away from our house!  Hooray!

Water Works Room: This room is really cool. They have crock rain boots and smocks to keep kiddos dry! They have a water table with chairs that little ones can sit in and play with water. The water drains before it get to them, so they stay dry while they are playing in the water-dry unless they get themselves wet with the toys.

They have gutter like things all over the room that you can connect to create waterways. Along with those they have orange sand bags so you can dam up certain areas and send water to another gutter. They have silver and black ping pong like balls that you can put in the water to send down through the gutters. And the coolest thing…the floor is a drain! So all the water that spills onto the floor goes through cracks into one big drain! Hello?! Who comes up with this cools stuff?

She just looked so cute in her smock! And yep, that's her "cheese" face

Kidopolis: this is an area full of grown up things for little kids-a bank, photo room, dance studio, coloring room, library, vet, train room, block room, magic room, heart beat room, etc.

They have special areas designed just for kids 0-3. They have little toys and slides for them to enjoy while the bigger kids are out and about in the other areas.

This room was the lego/block room. They have a big lego board on the floor that you can put lego pieces onto and build things on.  They also have foam puzzle pieces that connect and these cool linking plastic pieces.

This is the train room. There are 3 trains like this one that the kids can drive. Up above, there are trains on tracks that you can see through glass/plastic tunnels.  On the front of each train there is a camera. So as the kids turn the handles, the trains move and they can watch where they are driving. And others can see the actual train moving along the track!

The Vet Room: This room had all sorts of stuffed animals, animal carriers and things you would need to do a check up on a pet.  They had an X-Ray machine so you could put up X-Rays of animals and see different bones on different parts of their bodies.  They also had an X-Ray scanner. You could put a stuffed animal on the scanner and a scan of their whole body would show up! It was really cool!

Variah took extra good care of this dog!

This was the laundry room. She would push the green button and the clothes in the dryer would light up and spin around.

They have these little doors all over in Kidopolis that the kids can lift up. There are little figures that talk and light up when the door is open. Variah loved lifting up those doors and see what was in them and what they would say.

Rainforest: This is two levels, kind of 3. The top most level is a ropes course that older kids can do. Then the next level they have some cargo bridges you can walk on to an airplane that the kids can climb in and "fly". The bottom level is full of interactive things. They have another designated 0-3 kids area. They have a rainforest "shopping center" with rain forest like food-star fish, sweet potatoes, beets and coins to use.  They have clothes/wraps you can wear like the people in the amazons. They have exotic bugs in cases that you can look at and weigh. A climbing wall. A machine you can stand on and flap your arms like a hummingbird to see how fast your arms go. A scale to see how much you weigh compared to grasshoppers, cheetahs, etc.  A room of scary things. And tons more things I've forgotten I'm sure. Oh, they have a climbing station that starts on the main level and lets you climb all the way to the middle level/cargo bridges!

This little boy was hoarding all of the balls in the 0-3 area (he for sure wasn't younger than 3)

Variah crawled through the tunnel and snatched a ball from his stash! Hahaha

She LOVED jumping on the lilly pads

She made a friend on the slide

Shopping in the shopping center

Flying the plane

Walking on the cargo bridges/nets

We had such a fun day and didn't even see everything! We found out there is a whole new adventure outside too! Splash pad, nature walk, cave, playground, maze. Amazing!!
