This is our Super Bowl Sunday meal...we didn't watch the game, but that doesn't stop me from making super bowl food :)
We celebrated Ground Hog day by reading books and coloring a groundhog
Variah loves when I get out the new holiday books. It makes me excited to read the books to her and celebrate the holidays.
One day we were sitting on the couch and I noticed we were all wearing stripes! So of course I had to take a picture!
This is NOT normal February weather! But we sure enjoyed being outside and Variah loved being able to run and run and run.
Cuddle time
While Daniel was in Mexico for an event with work Feb. 5-10, I decided I wanted to remodel the bathroom. I have hated this big blank wall. It is such a wasted space. So I decided I was going to paint stripes on it to make it better. I kept all of this a secret from Daniel and used paint from the rooms we have painted for the kids. I even borrowed paint supplies from my folks ahead of time and hid them in the basement. I kept a pair of clothes on my bed so if Daniel called I could quickly change out of my paint clothes and into my "regular" clothes for our FaceTime chats.
One coat of white...
Two coats of white...
My lines all taped off and ready for some grey. I learned a trick for straight lines, you measure off the whole wall on just one side and make marks. Then you go from each mark using a level and make marks in a straight line. After making a straight line, you move down to the next section and begin again. That way you are measuring down from a ceiling that could be uneven or a floor that slants. Pretty easy to do, in fact, I was able to do it during nap time by myself!
The next trick I learned was to mark with tape the areas you wouldn't be painting-so in my case all of the white stripes. Then painted white over all the tape that would be in the grey section so that it would seal the tape with white paint and prevent any grey from bleeding into the white stripe.
Voila! I LOVE it!!! That process took about 2 days (Friday and Saturday) with the taping and all the coats of paint. As soon as the kids went down for naps or bed I was painting, painting, painting!
My parents came down to help me get it all painted white before Daniel got home. We were mostly productive and would have got lots done but I hadn't washed the wall yet. So they painted the walls I had cleaned and I washed the rest of the wall so that I was able to get it at least all done with one coat of white.
This is the light fixture I bought after Daniel was home
While I finished up the last bit of painting in the bathroom, I gave Variah washable paint so she could paint too. She had a blast and stayed contained!
My mom gave this book to Variah a long time ago and I decided to use it while Daniel was away to help keep Variah entertained and happy. She loved it!
Here are 2 of her creations that she made all by herself.
One morning I was in the basement using my Cricut to make some birthday cards and she was upstairs. She was gone for a bit and super quiet. I went to check on her and met her on the stairs. She had her hand behind her back like this and then proudly showed me this picture that she had made just for me!
I was so shocked and happy that she had done it all by herself and was so proud to give it to me. She has the sweetest heart.
Hard at work making pictures
Sometimes our house can get a little crazy and dirty. But I love this picture showing both Everett and Variah.
She showed me that she had some crazy lips
I borrowed Beauty and the Beast from our friends Jeff and Molly. It is my favorite Disney movie and sadly can't be bought right now. I popped some popcorn and prepped Variah about how great a movie it is and that it is my favorite movie. We had so much fun watching it together and she sat in my lap for the whole movie-somethign she rarely does. It was such a fun moment and made me excited for more mother and daughter moments like that!
Enjoying the crazy warm weather
Even Everett was able to enjoy it since it wasn't too windy for him
Variah impressed me with her ability to draw a circle!
Variah LOVES her little brother!
Getting her Valentines' Day card from Larlie and Pop
She was so excited to open it up and read it. It was a Dora card with stickers!
Everett loved his card too
One morning I went to get Variah up (unlock the door so she could get out) and found that she had made this great tower all by herself. She was so excited to show it to me!
To help Variah wash her hands after going potty, I put this pool noodle on the faucet so she could reach the handle. I thought it was pretty smart-and I did it all without any help from Pinterest. Which made me feel even smarter :) It works great and cost me nothing since I had a pool noodle from last summer!
I LOVE this picture of Everett munching on Dora. He is very determined to get that doll in his mouth!
Just chilling on the couch together
This was our attempt at getting Variah to pose for a Vday picture. It was not even happening with her and Everett in the same picture!
Everett on the other hand was loving the attention and smiled like a champ!
Valentines Day
I was in charge of the holiday this year. I really like that Daniel and I trade off being in charge of this and our anniversary every year. It makes it more enjoyable I think.
Beautiful Red Roses from my hubby
Getting ready to eat some dinner with all the ones that I love
We had fondue for our Vday Dinner-beef broth and then a cheese fondue. And my V cannot smile normally on command. She always gives us these half smiles. It kills me! She's such a goof
My goofball!
We heart attacked their doors
I gave Daniel socks and some treats for work. Too bad Variah told him ahead of time that I got socks for him! That little stink sees me opening packages and can't keep a secret!
Daniel got me a candy thermometer-just what I asked for! Now I can make us some homemade caramels! Hooray!
Variah got books from us
I came into the family room one day to find Ra chill in like this. Cute Variah loves her Ra and Mono (monkey in spanish)
We gave Everett his first rice cereal/solid foods on the 15th of February. He was in heaven and we couldn't spoon the food into his mouth fast enough
Just spending time together
This little girl cracks me up with her outfits
This is her saying "You got it dude"
And to our amazement she found that she could hang her pictures on the wall-it must have a metal face plate or something
If you look really close, Variah drew some glasses. They are on the left side of the picture directly under the "o" of her LOVE shirt
V really likes holding Everett and everett, well he tolerates it
I put Everett on his back and after breakfast with Variah I came back to this! The little stinker had rolled onto his stomach without us being there to cheer for him!
My sick little girl-I sure love pictures of sleeping babies
Daniel picked out the accent color for our bathroom and I thought it was a great idea. So turquoise/aqua it was! These are towels I was able to find at JC Penny and IKEA
And to finish off the month our darling sleeping boy! He loves to suck on his right thumb. He still is an awesome sleeper, sleeping for at least 12 hrs a night. 7pm to 7am!
