Fall Fun

I can't believe it is November! The time has flown. I just looked at the blog and realized I haven't posted about anything since my birthday. Wow. Today I have the day off from school since we just wrapped up parent teacher conferences. After doing conferences from 9 am to 8:15 pm Wednesday night and doing some yesterday after school, this is a much needed break. I do love meeting with the parents and watching them interact with their kids. Note to parents though, if you feel the need to reprimand your child PLEASE do that at home! It makes for such an awkward moment for the teacher to try to intervene. I had one conference where I mentioned missing assignments and explained why the grades were the way they were, then jumped into the role of referee/child protector. It was very awkward indeed. So needless to say, sitting in my pajamas reading and typing up this blog is a great day :) So, here goes my wrap up of September and October. 9/11/11 We visited the healing fields in Sandy to see the amazing display of flags. One for every individual who died that day. On each flag there is a short bio on each person. If you go next year, take tissues!
10/7/11 Tuacahn and St. George Trip with the Burningham Girls. We headed down on Thursday after work to St. George. My mom's mom has a house in St. George that she lets us stay in. It makes for great trips that are easy to do, but great getaways. Caitlyn was our trusty chauffeur for the trip-don't tell the rental company. Friday night we saw Disney's The Little Mermaid. It was so amazing to see all of the special effects! First off they flooded the stage, the actor and actresses used heely shoes to imitate the swimming/gliding motion, sheets of water fell from the "ceiling" of the stage to create a water screen, Ursula was large and in charge with a segue or something under her tentacles and the list could go on and on! Amazing! And we even saw a tarantula on our way into the play. My mom was NOT happy. It was a great weekend.
10/13/11 We said good-bye to Royal Ridge apartments and hello to our new house in Riverton. FINALLY! Our offer on the home was accepted back in April on this house! It was a short sale but not a short process. After waiting for so many months, it was great to finally be "home". We had a fabulous crew of family and friends that helped us move from one place to the other. Thank you so much for your help everyone! I only have pictures from the internet from when the house was being sold. So the furniture you see in the pictures is not ours, but previous owners. If you want to see our furniture, or lack thereof, you'll have to come visit us. :) We absolutely LOVE being in a house. Our new neighborhood is friendly and we love our ward. And they like to bake treats-so far we've had 3 different people bring us goodies to welcome us to the neighborhood/ward. Yeah!
10/14/11 One year anniversary! I joke and say I gave Daniel our house for our anniversary gift. He then jokes back and says he gave me a trip to Hawaii for his gift. Crazy how that year just flew by. Lots of memories, adventures, differences and growth. Feel free to review the blog to see what we did this past year of marriage :)
10/16/11-10/22/11 Oahu here we come! We celebrated our anniversary by going to Hawaii. Daniel had been before, but this was my first time. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, so Daniel thought it would be a great use of his skymiles and Marriot points to get us to Hawaii. I whole heartedly agreed :) I am going to do a separate post on Hawaii since we have a plethora of pictures. Until next time...
