Spring Break/Babymoon

Spring Break for Canyons School District was April 2-6. Daniel had asked me a couple weeks before, if I wanted to go on a trip before we have our little one.  Some people call it a Babymoon.  He read about it in several different baby articles. I thought it was a great idea-who doesn't love a vacation?  So we thought of some places that would be warm and that we could drive to. We decided to go to Las Vegas.  Neither one of us had been for several years, like 10 or more. So we decided to go from Wednesday to Saturday.  We chose a hotel that was in the middle of the strip so we could walk either direction to see things and my pregnant body wouldn't hate me too much.  So we left on Wednesday afternoon.  I'm learning that my body/bladder is the size of a thimble :)  I went potty at our house and had to go again in Pleasant Grove-haha.  I was good from there though and didn't need to stop again until St. George!  Then on to Vegas.  We checked into the Paris hotel.  Daniel made a run to Subway-literally and we ate subs and watched Survivor.  It is just one of those shows I love to watch and have been watching for years!  After that we headed out to the strip to walk around.  Wow! Daniel kept groaning about looking down. In Europe and other places, he's used to looking down to check his footing.  I hadn't realized it, but when I looked down, I soon realized that the ground had cards with nearly topless women!  I knew Vegas was bad, but really!  We probably walked a good 2 miles that night.  Let's just say I haven't done ANY exercising since I got pregnant, aside from one night of volleyball games.

On Thursday we went to breakfast at this placed called Hash House A Go Go. My neighbor told me about it and I am glad she did. It had huge pancakes and really big biscuits.  Mine was pretty much a small dense mountain. So tasty!

From there we found out where The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop was on the Blvd.

For those of you who watch the show Pawn Stars on the history channel, you know and love this place I'm sure.  The show is filmed at this particular pawn shop.

Daniel and his roommates watched it all the time when we were dating. So of course we had to visit it in all of its grandeur.  We waited in a line for about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad at all.  Inside there were tons of cool things that people have traded in for cash.  My favorite was the Survivor Staff.  Daniel liked the Super Bowl rings.

From there we decided to hang out by the pool. It was great to just chill in the nice weather with the Eiffel tower in the background. I felt like I was close to Paris, France with all the landmarks close by!

That night we went to dinner at the MGM grand.  It was a restaurant called Diego's. It had yummy Mexican food.

After eating dinner, we saw the Cirque de Soleil show KA. It was really amazing to see the things they were able to do!  Check out the link to see some clips from the show.  Neither one of us have see a cirque show, so we were very entertained!

Friday was our big walking and sight seeing day.  We headed about a mile out to the Flamingo hotel to see the flamingos, birds and fish.

Then we headed to the shops at Julius Caesar's Palace.  We went straight to the H&M store that is 3 stories! The baby section and maternity section was calling to us.  It was fun to watch Daniel get excited about the baby girl clothes. He chose some darling outfits while I looked at preggo pants. We looked at boy clothes for babies in the family, but soon found ourselves back in the girl section. They were just too tempting :)  After shopping and eating lunch, we caught the water show at the Bellagio. It was really neat to see, esp. for a first timer like myself!

Then we walked to the conservatory and saw the Dutch themed flower arrangements. There were SO many flowers and a huge windmill-40 feet tall.

Lilacs remind me of my parents' house and their lilac bushes. I love that smell during Spring/Summer.
This painting is made with flowers and herbs!

From there we decided to take a break back at our hotel room to nap (me) and snack (me again).  After napping, we ate some yummy dinner crepes and then hightailed it to the Venetian to sign up for a Gondola ride.

After our gondola ride we watched the Treasure Island show, which I do not recommend, unless you want to see a bunch of sirens dancing around trying to tempt sailors.  Not so family friendly.  The volcano erupting at the Mirage was the next thing we saw.  It was okay, nothing too extraordinary, but entertaining and free. We watched the water show again at the Bellagio and then called it a night. I was SOO tired from all of that walking.

Saturday we packed up and then headed to Mandalay Bay to the Shark Reef to see the animals.  The first one was saw was this guy, the Komodo Dragon. I had to take a picture because in 5th grade my best friend Ginny did a report on them and since then they always remind me of her and our fun times from 5th grade. Daniel got an earful of Ginny and Courtney stories after seeing the dragon. :)

This is in the glass tunnel where all of the sharks and such were swimming around and above us.
After Mandalay Bay, we headed to M&M world and ate the best M&Ms. Raspberry dark chocolate! I went back to the sample lady several times and bought some of my own :)  The coke factory was next, and not as exciting for us, so we didn't stay very long.
