Food Glorious Food

I am so excited we got all of our plants planted in our garden last night! I can't wait for the vegetables to start growing and for us to use them. I love fresh vegetables :) Even tomatoes, which I normally only tolerate. But garden fresh tomatoes are another thing all together. Put some cottage cheese or mayo with salt and pepper on top and call it good.  You can only do this with garden tomatoes. I just keep thinking of all the fun things I can make now that we have our own vegetables. I just hope that the plants actually grow :)  Daniel has done a fantastic job on the garden! He researched the best wood to use and how to build the garden box. Then he found the best type of soil to use.  He and a friend put it together and filled it with this special dirt.

The other day I went to IFA and bought us our vegetables. Then we mapped out our garden using this cool planning site. Then last night we put the starter plants and seeds into the ground.  We've got zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, tomatillos, watermelon, squash, radishes, garlic, carrots, green onions, red onions, cilantro, green peppers and soon to be purchased basil.  I got a flower for teacher appreciation that is supposed to be fragrant and attract bees, so we put that next to the garden to get the bees pollinating :)  We'll see what happens in the next few months! Keep your fingers crossed.

We'll either be harvesting vegetables and herbs or weeds.  This is our first attempt at gardening, so we might have over crowded our garden. Who knows, only one way to find out right?
